I took on a project that required me to redesign a metro map of a country I have never visited and I decided to redesign the Milan Metro Map as well as the logo. I decided to split the suburban rails up because it was more confusing to have different lines on a singular line. I slightly changed the pictograms through different colors and use slightly detailed icons to help differentiate other forms of transportation offered by the Milan metro system. I tried to add more character to the map by showing the original color palette more through exposing the suburban lines. I also curved the lines so that the eye can flow better. I used a heavy amount of red for the purpose of catching the eye and in respect to color palette of the Milan Flag. The logo redesign was inspired by the free flowing nature and the softness of the culture of Milan. I also wanted to keep the design cohesive with the curves of the lines in the redesigned map.
